Bringing you the latest in veterinary diagnostics!

The Animal Ark is proud to be the first in Singapore and the region to introduce ALICAM, a revolutionary device that provides valuable insights to your dog's digestive health.

What is ALICAM?

ALICAM is the world's first ambulatory light-based imaging (ALI) device for dogs.

Once swallowed, ALICAM captures high-resolution, 360-degree diagnostic images of the entire gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

This allows veterinarian to diagnose GI diseases quickly and accurately.

Essentially, ALICAM is a single-used, vitamin pill-size capsule, allowing dogs to be imaged at home or in the clinic.

There is no sedation or anesthesia required, and there is no need to restrict your pet's activity.

How does ALICAM work?

With 4 cameras mounted on a 360-degree axis, ambulatory light-based imaging can capture thousands of images as the capsule winds its way down the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

Bright LED lights ensure that clear and high-resolution images are taken in the GI tract.

The ALICAM process :

STEP 1   The dog swallows the ALICAM capsule.

STEP 2   As ALICAM travels through the GI tract, cameras take 360-degree, high resolution images, detecting and recording areas of concern. The dog can be fully active without restriction.

STEP 3   The ALICAM capsule is recovered, and images are downloaded at The Animal Ark.

STEP 4   A detailed medical report with diagnosis and recommended treatments is received from a specialist in the United States as soon as the following work day.

Signs & Symptoms of GastrointestinaI Diseases

Weight loss, reduced appetite, vomiting, diarrhoea, food intolerance, abdominal pain, dark stools or blood in stools, unexplained anemia (low red blood cell count)

Detectable Gastrointestinal (GI) Diseases by ALICAM

ALICAM may also be used as a tool in the detection of abnormalities of the GI system. Representative examples of detectable GI diseases include, but are not limited to:

Erosion or ulcers, inflammatory mucosal changes, intestinal parasites, motility disorders, masses or other changes suggestive of neoplasia (cancer)
