Allergies are one of the most common reasons pets are presented to the vet clinic, manifesting as chronic skin or ear infections, severe itching or hair loss. 

There are many steps to diagnose chronic skin condition in pets and many different treatment options. We understand it can get overwhelming or frustrating, we are here to help. Our vets are able to guide you through the process of checking for any underlying metabolic causes for your pet’s skin issues, doing an elimination diet / food trial, recommending IgE specific allergy testing (Allercept blood test) through HESKA laboratory services, or starting on some medications to keep the skin condition under control. HESKA’s Allercept Allergy Test is a blood test panel specifically tailored to allergens prevalent in Singapore’s climate and is conducted from a local lab, with a quicker turnaround time of 2-3 weeks. 

With the allergy report, we can initiate Immunotherapy, which is a safe and scientifically proven treatment option to manage your pet’s allergies. It is also the only chance for a potential long-term cure. HESKA is able to formulate immunotherapy treatment kits specifically tailored to your pet, to desensitise them against their allergies. Injectable and sublingual forms of treatment are available. Immunotherapy has a ~70% success rate, where success is defined as a 50% reduction in clinical symptoms and reliance on medications. In some pets the response is even better, and they may not require any form of medications at all thereafter.
